Most Liked

The fast and friendly service consistently receives high praise from both locals and visitors, making each meal feel personal and special. Reviews highlight the delightful breakfast options that come in generous portions, ensuring a satisfying start to the day. The standout item seems to be the lemonade—billed as the best in the city—alongside hearty dishes like the pork chop and salmon sandwiches that leave customers raving. The cozy atmosphere creates a sense of community; many guests appreciate the intimacy and warmth, likening it to a gathering at a family member’s home. The inclusion of diverse, cultural decor adds an enriching touch, promoting respect for heritage while inviting everyone to share in the joy of good food.

Most Disliked

While the vibrant atmosphere is generally cherished, some guests have mentioned that the popularity of Paige and Charlie's leads to wait times during busy periods. Customers recommend planning accordingly, especially during lunch hours. Inconsistent availability of certain menu items can also be a drawback for those with specific cravings. Some diners note that the busy nature sometimes results in a chaotic dining experience, though this is often overshadowed by the delicious food and friendly interactions. Lastly, while many appreciate the casual vibe, some might prefer a more formal setting, which this restaurant does not typically provide.

In the Heart of Gary's Midtown Neighborhood, Paige and Charlies offered very positive family oriented vibe, staff offered service with love and laughs had familiarity with neighbors and regulars. Outdoor music playing from the 60s and 70s. Very urban experience with traffic and buses moving along visible at 25th and Broadway. I ordered a Samon Burger meal, very filling good portion for your dollar. Lemonade actually stole the show (Best Lemonade in the City) ProTip : Order Food Ahead if you have a tight lunch window.

My experience at Paige and Charlie’s Coney Island was an abundance of spontaneous joy. My husband was driving south on Broadway when he noticed decorations outside. We both agreed to visit for the purpose of supporting a business in our hometown. When we arrived I was immediately impressed with the kind person waiting to hold the door open as we entered. Then as I looked around inside the restaurant there were beautiful murals adorning the walls. My husband placed our order and I went to the dining area. As each person arrived it seemed like a family get together at a favorite relatives’ house. One of my former students came to the restaurant and I got to meet her daughter, “The Birthday Queen” for the first time. Paige and Charlie’s served as the perfect location for the Birthday Queen to enjoy her birthday breakfast! When our food arrived, it was truly a meal made for royalty. I ordered a half breakfast, but it was an abundant breakfast. Each bite was delicious, and the food was so abundant that we both had food left over. Then there was live music and a DJ in the outdoor eating area. I soon learned that we were in the right place at the right time because Saturday, October 4, 2025, was their official grand opening. The music was so great that people dining in the restaurant sang background vocals. I had an opportunity to meet multiple people who shared that it was a multigenerational business, and that made it an extra special experience to support this business. The wisdom of an elder generation combined with the innovation of a younger generation presents possibilities to prosper on purpose. Visiting Paige and Charlie’s Coney Island was a beautiful, memorable, refreshing and joyful experience. Thank you to each person who planned and worked to ensure that this business succeeds. I am cheering for each team member to win. Thank you for all you do through your work for Paige and Charlie’s Coney Island!

Service was amazing. You get a very warm welcome as soon as you walk into the restaurant. Paige prepared my porkchop sandwich and my wife’s salmon sandwich and both sandwiches were tasty, fresh and delicious! I am definitely going back for more porkchop sandwiches

It's nice to go somewhere where they know how to put love in their food. And it's cool to see old pictures of African American heroes and heroines, and welcoming of those who can respect diversity. The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why, and Where phases. For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question ‘How can we eat?’ the second by the question ‘Why do we eat?’ and the third by the question ‘Where shall we have lunch?‘” Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Some want to move from survival to inquiry to sophistication quickly and don't really mind who's back they are going behind or toes they are stepping on, but this restaurant is respectful of others hunger, thinks freely, and is sophisticated in their love of their deep and awesome African heritage and folks of other classes and races.
